Jenny's Cabbage Soup

Ingredients
  • chop 1 head cabbage
  • 1 can red beans
  • box veggie broth

  • garlic
  • onion

  • add enough tomato sauce and or can tomato juice no sugar added to soup consistency
Cook till veggies are tender. Serve with or without brown rice.

Every year our church does the Daniel fast; we are in our fourth year. Last year God used it to set me free from carbonated soda, sweet tea, and excessive sugar intake. This year, unlike other years, I have had no caffeine withdrawals and if I want to am now able to quit no problem. Every year is more victory over Flesh. Thank you Abba
Thank you Jenny!

Deb's Cashew Stir-Fry

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus! I apologize for the delay in responding due to being out of town over the holidays. I just started my fast for the 2009 new year this week -- a 21-day fast -- 3 days total fasting with juice and water and the remaining 18 days on the Daniel fast.

I had a good recipe for the Daniel fast which I wanted to share.

Cashew Stir-Fry Cashews
  • 1 green pepper, sliced or diced
  • 1 red pepper, sliced or diced
  • 3-4 carrots, julienne style
  • 3-4 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 can pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1 c. vegetable broth

Put all ingredients in a large frying pan and cook on medium heat stirring frequently. Serve over cooked brown rice.

Note: I prefer to add the cashews at the end of the cooking time right before serving so that they are still somewhat crunchy.

Thank you so much for your website and all the support it gives to us while we are fasting. It is a blessing. May you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers all throughout 2009!

In Christ,
Deb

Thank you Deb! Your recipe was worth the wait.

What if I break my fast?

What if I break my fast on day 9 and resume on day 10? Is that okay?
God understands your situation. Do your best! If you break your fast for a special event or you just "blow it," restart again after the meal that caused you to break the fast. Eastern Orthodox Christians have been doing the Daniel fast for Lent for centuries. They believe that it dishonors Christ to fast on Sunday, when we weekly celebrate his Resurrection. So they break their 40 day Lenten Daniel Fast every Sunday.

God Bless. Please, keep me in prayer and my hubby as well as Church that we will touch the throne of God. I want to know His will for my life. Denise

Debbie's Wonderful Marinara

We are very thankful for your help with our Daniel Fast. We have utilized your recipe's and would like to share how we personalized one of them. I used tomato juice instead of broth for Grace's carrot soup and it made a wonderful marinara sauce.

Debbie

Lorraine's Alternate Butter

I did a near 100% raw diet for over 6 months - there are a lot of recipes that could be applied to this diet that would be helpful - for example you could mix agave and coconut to get the flavor of butter in your brown rice - Raw foods do not include processed foods, meats, etc. Lorraine
Thanks Lorraine! Great tip!

Deep Fat Fried Potatoes

This year we bought a deep fat fryer to use with peanut oil- looking forward to deep fat fried potatoes- sweet and regular!
Thanks for all you do! Leslie
Hi Leslie. Thanks for your note. We're not sure if you are kidding us or serious. We hope it is the former. Canola, peanut oil and other healthy non-animal fats are OK in moderation. We prefer extra virgin olive oil and Colza.

The foods to avoid list includes, "margarine, shortening, animal fat, high fat products." Deep fried foods are definitely "high fat products" to be avoided. Use as little oil as possible! French fries have too much oil. Spray some Pam or vegetable oil on your fries and bake them. We use olive oil in the place of butter. Add a little salt if you like salted butter. Don't use olive oil for high heat frying!
