Cereal and milk for breakfast?

Is there any kind of cereal and milk we can have for breakfast? Inez
Sorry milk is an animal product, so it should be avoided. One option we use is oatmeal, cooked in the microwave with some raisins. It is yummy and has no processed sugars. There are many good whole grain cereals. You can experiment with cereals, like eating them with natural orange juice. I mix them into my natural peanut butter.

Whole grain products are allowed and can be identified by the ingredient list. Typically if the ingredient lists "whole wheat", "rolled oats", or "whole corn" as the first ingredient, the product is a whole grain food item. Another way to identify whole grains in the foods you eat is to look in the nutritional facts information and check if the food item contains dietary fiber. If it contains a significant amount, it most likely contains whole grains.

Joyce's Basic Salad Dressing

Here is a recipe for a delicious salad dressing that doesn't have any sugar.

Basic Salad Dressing (2-3 servings)
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup flaxseed oil (or 2 Tbsp. each flax seed and olive oils) I used extra
  • virgin olive oil
  • 1-2 Tbsp. vinegar (apple cider, tarragon, rice, red wine, balsamic ume plum)
  • 1/2-1 Tbsp water
  • 1 tsp. Dijon-type mustard (optional, but totally delicious) Whisked into liquid for easy mixing (I used a little more...)
  • Whole or minced garlic, oregano, basil or other herbs of choice (I used a
  • combination of several.)
Mix well in a shaker jar. Store any leftovers in your refrigerator. Increase recipe for multiple servings. I hope that you enjoy this recipe as much I did!
Joyce

Thanks for sharing your recipe Joyce! One note, many people avoid vinegar, because it is made by fermentation. If you decide to avoid it vinegar, you can replace it with a juice like lemon, lime, orange, apple, etc.

I have ceoliac disease

Hi I have ceoliac disease and wonder if you could recommend a fast for me. Mary
Thanks for your e-mail Mary.

Sorry, I don't know too much about ceoliac disease. I read that people with Coeliac Disease can't tolerate gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, flour, rye, barley and many oats.

You should have a list of foods to avoid from your doctor. If you want to do a Daniel Fast, you could simply add your list of foods to avoid to the Daniel Fast list of foods to avoid. Be sure to discuss this idea with your doctor, before beginning the Daniel Fast, or any other fast. Most doctors recognize the Daniel Fast as a Vegan Diet.

Some other fasts to consider: A short term total fast or juice fast may be an easy way for you to fast. You might like to try a three day apple fast. Be sure to chew your apples well, or peal them. You might want to purchase or borrow a copy of Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough by Elmer L. Towns. It explains nine Biblical fasts.

Olive oil and what to drink?

What to drink on a true fast and how can I use Olive oil. Olive oil was on the Dainel fast from the begining. I would like to be true to the fast. I need to know that I'm doing what God said to be a true Daniel Fast. Alva

Thanks for your e-mail Alva.

What we now do as a Daniel fast was created by Rev. Elmer Towns, in his book Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough. He followed the principles of Daniel's partial fast in Daniel chapter 1.

The Hebrew word translated in English as vegetables, means food planted for harvest. Olives are a fruit that is planted for harvest.

We prefer extra virgin olive oil and Colza. Canola and other healthy non-animal fats are OK in moderation. Use as little oil as possible. French fries have too much oil. Spray some Pam or olive oil on your fries and bake them. We use olive oil in the place of butter. Add a little salt if you like salted butter.

You can drink unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices, because they are made from fruit and vegetables that are planted for harvest. We avoid all processed foods, like white rice, white flour, white sugar, and artificial sweeteners. Water is the best thing you can drink.

Bill Bright Juice Fasting

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I just started the Daniel fast today with grape juice, I wonder is it still a fast if I do juice and water for 21 days added with prayer and speaking the word of God over my life and the life of others? I am so grateful that I found this wonderful website. Thank you so much.
Yvette

Thanks for your e-mail Yvette. The Daniel Fast is a partial fast. You can eat all the foods in the food to eat list, but you must try not to eat those in the foods to avoid list.

If you decide to consume only juice and water for 21 days, you can do that too. Bill Bright called that Juice Fasting.
"I personally recommend and practice water and juice fasting, especially if you are going to fast for an extended period of time. This type of fast will provide you with more energy than absolute or water-only fasts and still lead you into the humbling experience of denying your desire for solid food that you can chew." Rev. Bill Bright Read more at Bill Bright's Fasting Website
I have done juice fasting. It is a wonderful way to focus your thoughts on the Lord for an extended fast. You definitely won't waste a lot of time cooking! The Daniel Fast is very cooking intensive, since we are avoiding processed foods.

Thanks,
Mike

Blessed in more ways than one

Thank you for responding to my question. I am practically a vegan due to a major change in my health.

I have acid reflux (6 years) and after trying every medication on the market known to man I decided to go all natural. I am blessed in more ways than one, I am a 20 year breast cancer survivor, and I do not take my blessings for granted. When I changed my diet, due to the reflux, my body felt very healthy and clean. The additives, fats and anything with a face have to be eradicated from my life.

I grow my own veggies and buy organic or farmers grown fruit and veggies. The water, fresh fruit juices (I juice myself) and fruit and soy smoothies are the only liquids I have.

Yes, I must admit that the Daniel fast has made me aware of some of the ingredients in some of the so called healthy foods I digest every day.

However, to make a long story short I would love to join your prayer club. Some of the time I get so caught up in my everyday life that I forget to stop and pray.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

P.S. Don't worry about me jumping back in to my old style because I can't eat the way I used to. Hey, I don't miss it anymore like I use to. I forgot to mention that my faithful husband of 21 years is also on the fast with me.

Sincerely,
Amanda and Jeff

Buy a real honest to goodness juicer

Buy a real honest to goodness juicer. Everything that you would eat, fruits and vegetables just throw them in the juicer and drink them.
