Rose's Daniel fast preparation

I'm starting the Daniel Fast tomorrow, for the first time. I have been getting myself ready for over a month.. I no longer drink regular coffee (only 1 mug of decaf in the mornings) , so when I start just drinking just water tomorrow, I will not have any withdrawel headaches. Plus, I bought a bunch of fruits and veggies today. I've eaten eggs for so long, that it' going to be strange to not start my day with one, but I'm confident that oatmeal and fresh fruit will help get me through my breakfast changes :D Rose

Randall's Daniel Fast Preparation

I have to say the Daniel Fast truly was a breakthrough for me. It makes you truly look at God and what He has for you and your life.

Spiritual preparation
I can say that spiritually you really need to pray and seek God seriously before you start. Be in your earnest moments with God. Tell Him audibly that You are ready and expecting a mighty and swift move from Him. You don't know, going into this fast, just how serious God is taking you.

Physical preparation
Physically I can say that if you drink caffeine or are a coffee junkie you need to definitely start about a week and a half before the rest of your fast by starting your beverage switch. If you still have any body side effects you can soften by a simple half pill of Tylenol or Excedrin. The fast asks you not to consume caffeine. So you're okay, if you can do the pain reliever before you start you fast.

Also, I feel that before your fast if you are a heavy meat eater I would suggest looking at your meat/protein alternatives before you start too. It will not present such a shock to your body. I myself ate a tremendous amount of foods while on the fast (twice as much as normal) and did not have any sort of problems.

For my results, I found my skin was more clear at the end of the fast. My digestion processes saw a tremendous improvement. I lost 14 lbs (This is not a weight-loss plan). I woke up refreshed and had so much more energy. I found out that a lot of the processed foods I previously consumed were a hindrance to my health to rather than a help.

I always was craving something sweet.I found a whole wheat tortilla, peanut butter and bananas made a great snack burrito. Do not bake with Stevia, its horrible. LOL!

I hope this helps you and guides you. God opened doors for me soon after I finished the fast, and has kept on blessing me since I did this, please take this fast serious, you won't regret it ever.

Marion's Preparation Tips

As a Daniel Fast veteran, I prepare for the Fast by cutting down on foods that I will be eliminating during the fast. I know it will be hard during the holidays. But, if not now, then right after the Christmas holiday, start cutting back on sweets, dairy, meats, breads, etc. Once your body starts having less of these things in its system, it won't miss them so much.

I also start gathering foods that I know I will be eating (nuts, no sugar applesauce, cooking vegetables and freezing them, etc.)

Start planning your menu
plans of foods that you can have. This way your mind is not fixed on what you can't have because you already have things set up. I find that I stay more committed this way.

For spiritually preparation, you can go on a "denial" fast here and there (ie: don't eat until after 4pm or don't eat from 12noon one day til 12noon the next day). Start getting your mind and body disciplined. Increase your prayer time and studying the word.

I find once I start disciplining myself, praying and studying the word more, the more "in-tune" I am with God, and the more I can hear Him talking to me and leading me.

Lorene's Preparation Tips

Make sure it is God that is asking you to fast. Fasting for the flesh, outside of sickness, has brought me disastrous results. I have found that when God calls me to fast, He will help me to stick to it and I won't struggle so when I come off it. There are certain times of the month that I do not fast because when I tried to fast because I felt blotted and fat and not lead by God, I ended up breaking the fast prematurely and overeating.(Usually on chocolate!) God will speak and confirm, if we listen. Then we will see great fruit from His Spirit come forth for His glory and our health.

4 Quick Preparation Tips

1. Start looking at labels and doing your shopping before fasting!
My first few days were a challenge. I was not used to reading the food labels and making sure I packed better lunches. Man was that work!!! My menu? Most of my items came from a semi-health food store. -Alison

2. Check out Jentezen Franklin's fasting information!
I will be once again joining Jentezen Franklin for the 21-day corporate fast on Jan. 6th?? 3. Start a journal or notebook
Its a time I reflect on my realationship with God.Pray about it and know why you are doing it, what you want to achieve in the fast. Keep a note book to record your reflections, meditations, your lows and your highs etc. -Helen

4. Begin praying before your fast!
I personally like to start praying about a month before the fast. I have only done 21 day no food total fasts, so I am not an expert Daniel Fast respondant. I do know that when I start a fast without praying first, I usually fail. -Eddie

Roshanda's Preparation for Daniel Fast

Thank you for the invitation to share encouragement with others who will partake of this very special and personal communion with God. I discovered that during the fast that I needed to remember the purpose, the goal for embarking on the journey, believe me it was a journey for me. I enjoy carbohydrates and coffee, and tea. I would suggest one stops drinking these types of beverages (caffeinated) a few days if not weeks before the fast.

Since I am the home-maker, wife, mother, in a "peaceful home" of different levels of commitment, I needed a constant reminder of "why" the Daniel Fast was, is necessary for my spiritual awakening. I prepare the meals for this household, and my diet was frowned upon, yet preparing food for my family presented a constant temptation.

So I guess you have gathered that my main focus was on the purpose, I know God does not need me to fast, He reminded Daniel that he was heard from the beginning of his supplication, - I need to fast so I remember that God hears me, I need to fast so I am humbled and able to hear God in the midst of daily life. To whom ever reads this, I pray that above all you find strength in Jesus Christ as you pursue the most valuable relationship ever presented to man.

Valerie's Daniel Fast Preparation

Hello and how honored I am to have been chosen to give you the tips that I have for FASTING. Our pastor has been going over the very same thing in church to help the members to get prepared for the January FAST. We are not going on the Daniel FAST, but God will lead as to what FAST is the FAST for this upcoming January.

When I am getting ready to FAST, I feel that I should get the body ready by FASTING for one or two days before the big FAST (such as in January). Hopefully, after FASTING for two days a week , the last two weeks, one should be able to add another day.I try to start staying away from sodas, sweets and anything that is very hard for me to refrain from. Hopefully, by this time, you will be ready for the FAST the first of the year.

This is a time for me to pray to God and make my requests known to him, whether they are spiritual, physical or mental, etc.(It should include all of these and more).

During the FAST, it is good to try at all times to focus on praying and reading God's word and partaking in Godly activities under God's guidance.

It is also good for me not to look on the FAST as a diet, although it is probable that losing weight is going to happen while on a FAST.

FASTING is also a time to talk to God about his will, purpose and plan for one's life and it is a time to be thankful for what God has already done. It is always good to praise God while the FAST is in effect.

I find it beneficial while on the FAST to think on the needs of others as well, the government officials, and now the economy, our church leaders-they need prayer as well and for the doors of jobs to remain open, and the spiritual and natural needs of men and women.

The Daniel FAST is very cleansing and although , I (we) was (were) allowed to eat certain things, I made sure that I did not become a glutton of the things that was permissible for me to eat.

After the FAST, I felt good and successful and I felt that I had honored God in a deep sense of a relationship that only I and God could have. It is a personal thing.

The Daniel FAST caused me to drink a lot of water and I realized, after the FAST, that it was a mental thought that I had to have a soda once a day, because after the FAST, sodas had a funny taste. In other words, it is a trick of the enemy!!

For those that will be going on the DANIEL FAST in 2009, I bid you Godspeed and I admonish you to hold out and endure the FAST. You will not regret it. While on the FAST, bind and rebuke everything that is unlike God from your life. Speak life over every situation and circumstance in your life. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, so choose life! MOST OF ALL.. BE SERIOUS!!!
