Quinoa - a grain that comes from the Andes Mountains of South America.

Quinoa contains more protein than any other grain; an average of 16.2 percent, compared with 7.5 percent for rice, 9.9 percent for millet, and 14 percent for wheat.

Garlic boiled peanuts

Not really a recipe, but today I knew we were going to the flea market, so I decided to get some garlic boiled peanuts... very satisfying and within the fast guidelines. Kim in Florida, USA

Bobbie's Pinto Black Bean Salad

Quinoa

I cook black beans and pinto beans with some onion. Chopped up some lettuce and fresh vegies. Cook some quinoa and then put lettuce beans and quinoa on a plate and squirt lime juice all over. You could also use salsa (homemade) and cilantro.

Frances' Black Bean Salad

Hi. I like your website and wanted to share a recipe, I am just starting today the fast for 21 days.

Ingredients:
  • Black beans 1 can
  • avacodo
  • red onions
  • parsley
  • olive oil
  • lemon juice
  • jalepeno pepper diced or hot sauce
  • sweet red bell pepper
  • salt and pepper
Directions:
  • Toss and serve with brown rice. Its delicious.

Randall's Daniel Fast Preparation

I have to say the Daniel Fast truly was a breakthrough for me. It makes you truly look at God and what He has for you and your life.

Spiritual preparation
I can say that spiritually you really need to pray and seek God seriously before you start. Be in your earnest moments with God. Tell Him audibly that You are ready and expecting a mighty and swift move from Him. You don't know, going into this fast, just how serious God is taking you.

Physical preparation
Physically I can say that if you drink caffeine or are a coffee junkie you need to definitely start about a week and a half before the rest of your fast by starting your beverage switch. If you still have any body side effects you can soften by a simple half pill of Tylenol or Excedrin. The fast asks you not to consume caffeine. So you're okay, if you can do the pain reliever before you start you fast.

Also, I feel that before your fast if you are a heavy meat eater I would suggest looking at your meat/protein alternatives before you start too. It will not present such a shock to your body. I myself ate a tremendous amount of foods while on the fast (twice as much as normal) and did not have any sort of problems.

Results
For my results, I found my skin was more clear at the end of the fast. My digestion processes saw a tremendous improvement. I lost 14 lbs (This is not a weight-loss plan). I woke up refreshed and had so much more energy. I found out that a lot of the processed foods I previously consumed were a hindrance to my health to rather than a help.

Difficulties
I always was craving something sweet.I found a whole wheat tortilla, peanut butter and bananas made a great snack burrito. Do not bake with Stevia, its horrible. LOL!

I hope this helps you and guides you. God opened doors for me soon after I finished the fast, and has kept on blessing me since I did this, please take this fast serious, you won't regret it ever.

Peanut Butter Mix

I stumbled onto your lovely website yesterday and read a lot of the articles. You had a recipe for peanutbutter where you added 1/2 cup of sun flower seeds, 1/2 cup of chopped peanuts, etc. Then you said you ate 1/2 banana with this mixture. It sounded so good and I told my friend about it and she wants the recipe and I can't find it now. Will you please send it to me? God bless you in your work. Eleanor

My favorite snack is my natural peanut butter mix on bananas. I usually only eat a half a banana with a tablespoon of my mix for each snack.

I mix together a large jar of natural peanut butter with a half cup each of chopped peanuts, chopped almonds, sunflower seed kernels, pumpkin seed kernels, bran cereal, ground flax, and rolled oats to put on my bananas or apple slices.

If I'm not doing the Daniel Fast, I also include cocoa powder. Sugar really isn't needed.

What about protein drinks?

I am not sure if I asked this question already, so forgive me. I am 14 days into my Daniel fast and doing great! Feeling great! I am concerned about not getting enough protein as I am exercising daily now at a pretty moderate pace. What about protein drinks? I picked up one from Sam's and it is Naturade Soy Protein Weight Loss Meal Replacement. It only has 13g of protein per serving, 150 calories , not bad in that respect, but does have some addititves that I have no idea if they are natural or chemical. Any suggestions? I have not felt led to add chicken or fish at this time, but if that would be better than a protein drink, I will. thanks for your help! God is so good! I am hearing so much more clearly and my prayer time is awesome! Wendy

I have been body building for 4 years. I am 49 years old. I consume 40-50 grams of protien every 3 hours and supplement with energy drinks high in caffiene. My pastor has called for a 21 day Daniel fast. I am concerned about loosing alot of the body mass I have gained. He said the fast is strickly vegetables and water. I need the spiritual breakthrough that the fasting and prayer will yield but don't know if I am willing to give up the hard gains I have made. Al

My friend and I are joining a corporate 21 day fast and we have chosen to the Daniel fast. We are both addicted to cigarettes which is one of the reason we are fasting. We are being realistic that we will probably smoke during the fast. I believe God honors all sacrafices but do you think we will still be rewarded with the spiritual and supernatural blessing of a fast or will the smoking block blessing due to the sinful nature of it? Thank you for the great guidelines and helpful answers to questions. I was wondering if dried fruit (without preservatives or added sweeteners) are acceptable on the Daniel Fast. They're great mixed with nuts for on the go snacks but I'm worried that the natural sugars they contain might be excessive as they become concentrated in the drying process. Thanks, Viki
