A supercharged weekend
Mon, 20 Aug 2007
Saturday, 29 hours after we left our apartment in Omaha, we arrived at our townhouse in Abidjan. There was no electricity. What could be wrong? Did we not pay enough in advance for our months out of town? No, it was just the circuit breaker at the meter. We worked late into the night cleaning the rotten stuff from our refrigerator, putting sheets on our beds and mopping all the floors.
Sunday morning, we woke up early for Nassif's baptism. The celebration continued late into the afternoon. Jet lag and excitement kept Mike and Joshua from sleeping that night. Sue slept well.
Praise you Heavenly Father for the safe arrival of the Farhos and their bags in Abidjan. Bless them with much fruit for their labor the next two years.
How many hours travel time?
Wed, 15 Aug 2007
Our short home assignment is over. We fly to Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire on Friday. People are asking us, "How many hours travel time to Abidjan?" We leave our home in Omaha at 10 am. We should be at our home in Abidjan by 7 pm Saturday. Excluding time changes, that adds up to 28 hours total with about 17 hours in airplanes. We're so grateful to know that you will be praying for us the whole way and during our next years of ministry.
Heavenly Father, protect the Farhos as they travel. Give them a smooth departure from Omaha and an easy arrival in Abidjan. Give them much fruit for their labor.
Our bags are packed

Our bags are packed, but we're not quite ready to go. John will move out by Monday. It's always so hard to say goodbye to friends and family! There was good news today in Abidjan. The president promised to do his best to have presidential elections by the end of this year. It is very encouraging to see so many steps toward peace.
If you will be in Omaha Sunday, August 12, Mike will be interviewed in the two sanctuary services at Christ Community Church.
Heavenly Father, please give the Farhos strength for these last exciting days in the USA. Bring lasting peace again to Cote d'Ivoire.
