Why do Muslims fast?
Tue, 25 Sep 2007
During the month of Ramadaan, Muslims refrain from food and drink during daylight hours, and do their best to avoid all sinful actions, thoughts, and words. Why? Some answers we've heard: to re-evaluate their lives, to identify with those who are poor, to worship God, to obey the Koran, to break bad habits, to grow closer to God, family and friends, to learn self-control, to keep the tradition, to purify body and soul, to be forgiven of sin.
Heavenly Father, open eyes and minds to see and understand the work of Christ on the cross and His resurrection. Give Muslims around the world dreams and visions of Jesus, the only Savior of mankind.
The Gospel arrived too late for Ali
Tue, 18 Sep 2007
It was a sunny Friday afternoon. Ali (not his real name) and his girl friend were returning to Abidjan from the beach. They were on a curve when a huge pothole appeared in their lane. Ali swiftly avoided the hole, but drove head-on into a mini-bus. He and 17 others in the bus died. His girlfriend is still in the hospital, but she lost both legs. The Good News didn't arrive on time for Ali.
Heavenly Father, we pray for this young Lebanese woman. Heal her body, horribly wounded in this accident. Open her heart to receive the Gospel. Protect Mike, Sue and Joshua as they travel very dangerous roads daily.

So sorry to hear this. What a tragedy. There is a guard that I work with who also lost his son this Sunday in a car accident. Two months ago his daughter died of cancer. I am going to the funeral tomorrow. Praying that I will be able to help him somehow. He is not a believer. Take care and be careful. None of us knows when we will go, do we? Marilyn
We certainly will be praying for this woman and your family also. Our hearts goes out to her. God Bless. Carrie and Don
Dear Lord, We pray that Ali's girlfriend would hear the Gospel message and that you would use Mike and Sue to share Your love with her. I pray that you would soften her heart and that she would be open to the Gospel. We thank you for using Mike, Sue and their boys Lord, to reach out to others who are in need of Your love and mercy. I don't know this Lebanese woman but I pray for her salvation and the salvation of many other Lebanese people. In Jesus name, Amen
This breaks my heart. I stand in agreement of the prayer for this young lady and for the protection for your family. Donna

911 and Ramadan
Tue, 11 Sep 2007
911 is our USA emergency telephone number to call for help. This year, let's call for help from God. Ramadan is an extremely important month when Muslims around the globe fast for help from God. The greatest help anyone can receive is found in the work of Jesus on the cross. Any sacrifice we make can only be a way of saying thank You to God.
Heavenly Father, we ask You to open the minds and hearts of Muslims around the world, to understand and receive the gift of eternal life from Jesus. Give them dreams and visions about Jesus.

Yes, I trust that we can here at Old Cheney Alliance Church, conduct focused prayer for the Muslim world during Ramadan. I have contacted YWAM here for details about the DVD and the 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World. The Lord bless, Bob
Mike, Sue, and Family,Thank-you for the e-mail I will pray along with you on the 30 day prayer Journey. May the Lord continue to use Mike and Sue mightily as they minister to the people in Cote Ivory. May many come to know Christ as their Savior as Mike and Sue continue to share the good news of our King by the power of the Holy Spirit. Please continue to pray for the revival in Des Moines Iowa with Ann Graham Lotz. Pray that the Lord will draw people to himself, and that many will come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior of their life. May you always stay In Love with Jesus and continue praising his name! Thank-you father for your son Jesus. In Christ Jesus Tammy
What is different in Abidjan?
Tue, 4 Sep 2007
We were at Daniel's 11th birthday party. The mixture of French, Lebanese and Ivorians wanted to know our perspective after 5+ months away. My first answer was that there are fewer police roadblocks. They debated for some time about my observation. Today, my answer would be the deaths of a number of friends: Boni, Issa, Pascal and some C&MA Ivorian pastors. All their deaths were health related: Malaria, Typhoid, Tuberculosis, heart disease, etc.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the Good News of salvation through Your Son Jesus. Help these families as they grieve the loss of their loved ones. May many more trust in Jesus before it is too late.

I wondered also what you meant by friends that had died. So very sorry for your loss, but heaven's gain if they knew our Lord Jesus. Thank you for all the wonderful information you sent! Love, Susie and Lou

We are thankful you are back home and that your friends were curious about
your perspective of the changes since you left. What have they noticed that
has changed in the country?
Since Tim and I have turned 50 we are seeing a lot of changes in people also.
It is as if people are straying further and further away from the Lord they
have NO desire of the things of the Lord. Lord come soon. God Bless you, Tim
& Kim
It is sad to lose loved ones, edspecially if they don't know Jesus! It is great that God is using you to lead many to Christ. God bless you in your ministry! Love and Prayers, Dorothy

Indeed, May God give visions of the Savior of Saviors for their good and the glory of God. And may He set up divine appointments with people like Mike and Sue to interpret the visions. Wendell
Thank you for the updates. Their brevity and conciseness enable me to regularly read them, and pray along with you. Calvin

CHRIST can indeed open their eyes and I pray HE will mercifully do so, Charlotte
We continue to pray for you as you minister to Muslims. We will pray for Muslims to be enlightened as to the true Savior of the world. We love you! Larry and Deanna
Don't Christians fast too? Should we fast? Holly
Yes, we do fast. One of many fasts that we like is called the Daniel Fast. Read more about it at http://www.farho.net/daniel-fast. Mike
