Dear Pillars of Hope Prayer Team:

Where did this month go? It flew past and it was busy. It makes me conscious of how we are called upon in Scripture to "redeem the time". I wonder how we are to do that exactly. Every day I am reminded to ask the Lord to help me use my time wisely. I want to be led to the people that are hungry, with whom God is dealing and drawing to Himself. I want to make time for my wife and children, not left-over time, but good quality time. How many times in the Word are we reminded or exhorted regarding the "shortness of time". In the use of time, prayer has got to be one of the best activities that we use our time for. Yet, it too is often pushed out because of the pressure of time use. Anyway, let's keep praying for each other that our time would be used wisely and that we would be fruitful in the kingdom because of it.

Praise Bulletin: Praise the Lord for a good month. We were able to see some people come to Christ and others who were set on the road to freedom from the chains of the enemy.

Praise Bulletin: The Lord gave us a good week with Alimamy Sanogo, the evangelist who used to be a Muslim charlatan. He was a tremendous help.

Praise Bulletin: We found a non-governmental organization in our city that helps people like Silue (Sil-oo-ay) with their terminal illness. Though their funds are limited, they have still taken some of the pressure off of us. Anyone knowing of an organization that helps with funding these kinds of organizations should contact me. Their funds are depleted and they are limited in what they can do. I'm launching this invitation one more time, just in case. I have received a couple of responses, but am still looking for others.

Praise Bulletin: Praise the Lord for Karim (Ka-reem) who recently gave his life to Christ. He has been showing a spiritual desire to understand and grow in his new faith.

Prayer Bulletin: Pray for Karim to grow in his faith, and that he will find his way through the persecution, chiding, and mocking.

Prayer Bulletin: Development needs. We have for some time now found ourselves trying to deal with the development needs of our members: i.e unemployment, high costs of medicines, etc. This has often been a distraction from the spiritual aspects of the ministry. We have found it to be difficult to disciple and evangelize the same people that we are trying to help developmentally. We are trying to set up a structure apart from the church that will be able to deal with these needs. Pray that we will find the right people to oversee such a ministry. We want to give ourselves to the spiritual growth of our believers and our contacts without mixing this with it.

Prayer Bulletin: Pray for Elisa Toure (two-ray), a young girl with a sordid past, who really seems to want to go with God. We have been walking with her through renouncing her past life, receiving God's forgiveness, and breaking the chains of bondage that she is currently bound with i.e. fear, guilt, etc. Pray that the Lord will fortify her to fight the enemy who has sought to destroy her life completely through bad dreams, demonic influences, unhealthy relationships, abortions, and the likes.

Prayer Bulletin: Pray for Kassoum, Karim's eldest son. He recently made a profession of faith around the same time that he was found to have stolen a very expensive butcher knife from the military camp. His family says that they are seeing changes in his life. He has a long ways to go, but God is working.

Prayer Bulletin: Pray for Amy and Carina as they lead a seminar (February 5-9) for training women leaders, along with 2 national pastor's wives. Due to the current political situation, not as many will be able to attend as we had hoped for. Nonetheless, it is a wonderful opportunity to train women to lead other women in their churches. Pray that the ladies will not only grasp the material, but that they will put it to use when they return to their churches.

Prayer Bits and Pieces:

  1. Pray for the seminar (Feb. 11-16) that will bring all churches and missions working among Muslims together to see how we can cooperate in our efforts.
  2. Pray for the organization of a "Development Committee" to oversee our unemployment needs.
  3. Pray for the organization of an "Evangelism Team" to be trained and mobilized to plan evangelistic activities.
  4. Pray that the Lord will allow John Traore to do his year of internship as pastor of our House of Mercy Church.

We are dreaming big about what God would want us to do. We don't want to start things that can't be continued after our departure. But we want to throw out a "big net" in order to bring in the greatest amount of harvest for the kingdom. Thanks for joining with us in seeing this happen.
