Farho March Prayer Blog
03/30/2002"The Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!" Lebanese Easter greeting. The words in Arabic are pronounced, "Al Masih kam! Hakan kam!"
Please pray for John. He has malaria for the first time since 1996. Last night his temperature spiked to 104.5. Thanks to prayer and a strong medication, his temp is down to 99. He still has a terrible headache.
"About 100 prisoners came to chapel this morning." Daniel Keita, director of Alliance Radio in Cote d'Ivoire.
Pastor Keita preached at the Bouake Men's Prison for violent offenders. There are about 3,000 men in the prison. Pray for the lay chaplain, who leads weekly meetings and invites local pastors to preach. Pray that more prisoners would find freedom in Christ.
"Please, come build us a church!" The chief of a Muslim village, after a week of evangelistic meetings. Some Alliance Women in Bouake felt a burden to reach this village. They gave meningitis vaccinations to over 260 children during the week. Nightly meetings clearly communicated the gospel. Twenty Muslims put their faith in Christ for salvation. All of them were at Church on Sunday. Pray for pastor Noel, who is responsible for teaching these new believers.
"We offer the world a reasonable, rational alternative to modern chaos." Chuck Colson.
Chaos was the word that came to my mind as I drove to work this morning. Traffic lights aren't working, because of a lightening storm that passed through Bouake yesterday. This afternoon, I was told that two people in town were killed by lightening strikes. Pray for us that we would effectively communicate the good news of Jesus Christ, before it is too late for the perishing.
"There is a little Lebanon located in the Marcory area here in Abidjan." Wes Nevius, Cote d'Ivoire Field Director.
Praise God with us that after 12 years in Côte d'Ivoire, our field leadership is ready to station us full-time in Lebanese ministry. Pray for us as we consider this wonderful opportunity. Pray concerning all the ramifications of a move to Abidjan. We could move this summer.
