"I would like to express my sincere thanks for your prayers." Rev. Koffi Celestin

Pray for the new president of the Cote d'Ivoire National Church, Reverend Koffi Celestin. As he takes leadership, many thousands of Christians are still refugees.

  • 332 churches behind rebel lines are closed due to the displaced refugees fleeing the region of Bouake
  • 50 national pastors are displaced, including pastor Daniel Keita, the director of radio ministries.

"To learn a language is to cross into another domain of God's redemptive activity." Greg Thompson.

It has been exciting to see new doors open to us as we are working harder at learning Arabic. We only have six more letters to learn to read and write! We look forward to the day when we can read and teach the Bible in Arabic. Before the war in the Middle East and John's cyst, we were planning to attend the Bible School in Beirut for one month of training. Pray for us as we finalize our travel plans for this summer.

"Pastor, please help me reach the homeless children." Serile

Pray for Serile, sharing the good news with young people who live on the streets near our home in Abidjan. We gave him some literature for his Bible classes. Since then, I met two of the young men separately on the street. They both asked for more literature so they could share Jesus with others. Serile thanks you for sending international workers and praying for him.

Our son John asks you to pray for that cyst in his hand to heal. It is located in a knuckle next to a nerve. It is becoming increasingly painful. An American international worker doctor in Dakar is advising us to see a specialist in USA to remove it.

"Malaria kills an African child every 30 seconds." World Health Organization

Sue is so courageous. Just after our return from Bamako, Mali, See found us an Arabic tutor. That's right! Sue is studying Arabic now with me. It is really fun and a challenge. We are learning to read and write. So each week we add four more letters to our repertoire. Pray that we would make the time to get our homework done. Pray that our brain cells would hold on to what we are learning.

Malaria and AIDS kill more than four million people a year in Africa. Pray for President Bush's proposal to give one billion dollars to stop Malaria and AIDS in Africa.
