Fasting every day from sunrise to sunset
Tue, 26 Sep 2006
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year. Fasting during this month is the fourth of the Five Pillars of Islam. Fasting requires no food or water every day from sunrise to sunset during the 30 days of Ramadan. One problem, that you might not imagine, is that everyone who is fasting is in a great rush to get home for supper at sunset. Here in Abidjan, and around the world, that means traffic jams and flared tempers for a month. John said that he is observing the same behavior in Iraq.
Heavenly Father, motivate Christians of the world to actively share the love of Christ with their Muslim neighbors during this unique month.
The Muslim month of prayer is fast approaching. Ramadan begins September 24 through October 23, 2006. You are invited to lovingly pray for the Muslim world. God will use your prayers to touch hearts and homes for eternity. It will be an exciting experience for you. For more information and downloads, go to our 30 days of prayer page.
Heavenly Father, give Muslims dreams and visions that will lead them to Jesus the Messiah. Open our hearts to lovingly pray for Muslims.

I went to your website for prayer requests during Ramadan, and I was really impressed at how thorough and how interesting everything is! You really went to a lot of work. I plan to go back there and read more as time allows. And thanks for your weekly brief news reports. Dean
Thanks for your emails. I like the way your site links to each day of the prayer requests during Ramadan30-days of Prayer for the Muslim World. Mike

Toxic waste report
Thu. 14 Sep 2006
What is the cause of this toxic waste? We still don't know the source country. The press only tells us that it was unloaded off a ship at the port. Evidently, they were unable to unload it in Europe, so they tried several countries in West Africa. They were given permission to unload it here! Many government officials are in big trouble. More than 17,000 people have been treated at hospitals. Seven people have died.
The waste was unloaded as a black liquid, but the dangerous chemicals are hydrogen sulfide gas and caustic soda that affect the lungs and sinuses. It seems like a flu with runny nose and headache. I had some symptoms, but it could have been the flu. We are avoiding the affected areas.

What are you doing to protect yourselves? (We are avoiding the areas that are dangerous. Mike) Please be careful. Hopefully you have stayed well. Praying for you. Al
"Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly
pestilence... you will not fear the terror of night... nor the pestilence that
stalks in darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday"
Dear Jesus, please
protect Farhos and their loved ones in Abidjan under the shadow of your wings.

Toxic waste report
Tue. 12 Sep 2006
How many are ill? As of Saturday, more than 7,000 have been treated at the Abidjan hospitals. Patrick, a Lebanese friend, shared with me today that he woke up in the night two weeks ago with blood on his pillow. He thought he must have had a bloody nose in his sleep. The blood actually came from his sinuses via his ears. Most people experienced flu symptoms: headache, runny nose, nausea, etc.
Dear Heavenly Father, continue to heal those that are ill. Help the government to continue taking the best steps to resolve this issue.

Toxic waste report

So far more than 7,000 people have been treated at local hospitals for illnesses apparently caused by the toxic waste spilled in Abidjan. Keep praying for the government to get the waste cleaned up. Pray for those that are ill.

Cluster bombs and toxic waste
Tue, 5 Sep 2006
I just returned home from visiting with Mohamed. His brother died today in Lebanon. Somehow, he came in contact with a cluster bomblet near their family home. The United Nations reports that there may be more than 100,000 unexploded bomblets scattered throughout southern Lebanon. There is also major concern here, in Abidjan, about what appears to be toxic waste from a foreign source. Two children died. Many people are hospitalized for lung and skin damage.
Heavenly Father, please protect people from these cluster bombs in Lebanon and toxic waste in Abidjan. Heal those who are already wounded in Lebanon and sick in Abidjan.

I will pray that they quickly find where the toxins are coming from and that God will protect the children and bring spiritual and physical healing to the people in Abidjan. Lord Jesus pour out your mercy on these people. May they come to know you as Savior and healer. Come Lord Jesus, come quickly. Amen. In Christ Jesus, Tammy
We pray for you all continually. You are in a very volatile situation we will pray again for Mohamed and the toxic waste in Abidjan. Lord, protect you and the people there. Help find the cluster bombs and protect people from this tragedy. God Bless you, Tim & Kim
I am so sorry for these tragic and frightening situations. I will surely pray over them. Thanks for keeping us informed of the daily walk of humanity elsewhere. Some days I can't even imagine it. Laura

May God use his people to demonstrate the love and grace of God in the Islam regions of the world. Wendell
Mike - May God use you mightily. Dave
We're praying for Muslims around the world and especially during Ramadan. John Ellenbergers in Indonesia have decided to fast during that period and to use it as an example to their Muslim friends and open discussions about who Jesus really is. Anthony
Good reflection about Ramadan! John

That does present a problem I wouldn't have thought about! They really need Jesus! God bless you as you minister to them! Love and Prayers, Dorothy
Mike, I appreciate your updates but would surely like to know more or your actual situation and how you are experiencing life there in Abidjan. I get a lot of news stories about what is going on there and at the UN but I would like to know about your daily lives. Bon Courage! I surely appreciate your hanging in there in these difficult times. God bless! In Him, Gene
