John and Joshua Baptized

What a joy it was to baptize our two sons, John and Joshua, on Friday May 30th. We had planned to have the celebration at the ocean on my 31st spiritual birthday, May 29th. It was a very rainy and cold day. Check out the photos at our family blog.

Team photo
We had a great two weeks with the work team from Christ Community Church in Omaha. Visit their blog to see photos about their daily adventures and work.

Heavenly Father, thank You for leading John and Joshua to follow You in obedience to be baptized. Give them much fruit in their lives for You. Guide and bless the Christ Community Church college students as they share their ministry in Cote d'Ivoire.

Send us your questions advice, comments or prayer requests!

Congratulations! What joy to your family and to the family of Christ!

PS I'm sorry about John's shoulder and will be praying for healing. We're grateful he stood up to protect our people, our freedom and the oppressed. I wish I could take the pain away but since I can't, I'll lift it up to the throne of He who can!

Happy to hear about the baptism! We baptized 7 people on May 25, the first in several years in our church. God is moving in conviction, healings and general cleaning up lives. Some outsiders have come in without connections, invitations, etc., showing the Lord can call them off the highways and biways. The local Wesleyan Church and the Gospel Mission are also experiencing an unprecidented move of God in their midst.

Be encouraged and ever zealous.
Your brother, Larry

We rejoice with you at the baptism of John & Joshua. What a thrill to see your children follow the Lord in baptism! Wade & I have experience that with our four children.

We have been praying daily for John and the team as they were there, and pray there will continue to be fruit as the result of their time spent at Cote d'Voire.

Hello Mike:

What a joy to baptize our children. I too had the joy of baptizing all six of ours. There is nothing like seeing your children walking with the Lord. We still have one daughter who is lingering far too long on the wrong side of the fence.

Blessings!
Larry

Mike

This is great news. It was a week of celebrations. On Sunday the 25th, I and three other friends got ordained in our church. We were commissioned and licensed by our Pastor. I was so blessed and happy as my Pastor is my spiritual father as well.

I am so glad the youth had a great time there in Abijan. Blessings to everyone.

Dear Mike,
That brings back fond memories of Jeter and Tim baptizing the "Tjoston" kids on two different Easter sunrises on San Pedro beach. It's a very precious blessing to be able to baptize your own children. I'm delighted for you. And thanks again for all you and Sue did to make that team thing a wonderful experience for all involved! See you Friday.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Laura

Greetings!
A month ago we initiated prayer for healing for Mike's right foot and for the tinnitus in his ears. Then some other things came up, like Sue's attack and the team from our church joining you, so we heard no more of those important items -- what is the word?? We have continued to mention them in prayer from time to time and hope healing has been accomplished before now.
We serve an AWESOME GOD!!!

Thanks for letting us pray for you.
Vern and Inez

Keep praying. My right foot is doing some better. My son the medic is treating me now. He brought some insoles for my feet, which are helping some. He taught me some stretching exercises to do that are also helping. It only bothers me now when I forget to do the stretching before I get out of bed.

John cleaned out my ears to make sure there wasn't some pressure on my ear drum. He found them to be quite clean already. Some days the ringing is worse than others, but is always there. John said it can take up to a year or more for the ringing to stop after it starts. So we're still praying for healing.

Thanks!

How exciting to hear about your sons' baptisms! My daughter and I were recently baptized. How is your wife after her scary experience? I prayed for her. We have had several things happen to our family over the years doing inner city missions here in Jacksonville. We have always been so thankful to the Lord for his protection over our family. Would you pray for our daughter Kaylee(16)? She left yesterday to begin the long flight to Camotes Islands, Philippines. She is going with a group of college students from the International Mission Board, who are traveling to different areas in the Pacific Rim. There are 6 students who will be on her team. After a week of training in Davao, they will travel by boat to their particular island to backpack in the jungle to spread the gospel for 8 weeks. It took much prayer and fasting before Chuck and I would even allow her to apply for this trip. She is a wonderful daughter and very missions-minded, not safety-minded=). However, our children belong to the Lord and we pray for them to do His will and work in their lives. When she got accepted, we knew it was OK. Then came the money issue. She ended up having to have close to 4,000. That was truly God. As a one-income home-schooling family, we never have any extra money unless God miraculously provides. Her youth Pastor handed her the last 100 dollars 20 minutes before the plane left yesterday. WOW!

We expect to hear from her only a couple times a month , maybe. It's going to be hard, but, our God knows all, sees all and is in control of everything that will happen and I will trust Him!

In Christ's Name,
Virginia

Hi Mike!

I am rejoicing with you! It is amusing to hear Abidjan could be "cold". I'll bet the Africans were wearing their winter coats! I remember that when it was 80 degrees, they were frozen! Has your blood thinned out too?

I'm praising God also for the kids who came to do a missions assignment too! I pray many seeds were planted in their hearts and minds!

God bless you and yours,

Cherie

So you gotta tell me...are you coloring your hair? You look great! I will be 43 next week and I have gray in my bangs...

Hi Mary,
Happy birthday!

I'm 52 now and have plenty of gray hairs. No color needed. Gray hair is an asset of seniority here in Africa, so I am just a young kid still.

Ken and I praise God for each of you and were excited to read about the baptisms of John and Joshua! What a blessing that it was so close to your spiritual birthday too, Mike. ( I do remember being with you at Windy Gap in 1977! Praise the Lord!)

May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless and watch over your family and His ministries through you,
