Summertime in Abidjan

Many of our friends and neighbors have already left Abidjan for the summer. Others will be leaving over the next few weeks. Most are flying home to Lebanon or France. Summertime is the most beautiful season in Abidjan. August is the average coolest month at 80 F. May through July, we get a total of more than 44 inches of rain. For comparison, May through July are the wettest months in Omaha, NE, totaling almost 12 inches of rain. Helena, MT gets less than 12 inches of rain in an entire year. See your city's normal rainfall

During these cooler and wet months, we spend more time with the folks who can't afford to travel. We will miss our closest friends and neighbors who will be far away.

Heavenly Father, we ask You to open new doors and windows for ministry in Abidjan. Guide the Farhos and the leaders of the Modeste Church, as they continue the construction that the recent Omaha Team is financing.

Hi dear friends,

If you were in Omaha  now, you'd feel right at home as we are having a very very very rainy, stormy Spring and Summer.  It can't seem to stop! but, I'm sure we won't be close to your 44 inches between May and July.. You must feel fairly "waterlogged" by the end of July.  We will pray that God will open up many doors this summer (while your friends are away) and that you will be able to make much progress in the Modeste church, plant many "seeds", and see many exciting things happen.

Blessings,

Carole and Len

The Lord bless, Mike and Sue as you carry on for the Lord there in the Abidjan area.  We remember well our days in that city coming from and going mostly to Mali.

Trusting that you have a wonderful time with your neighbors and friends who are in the area during these summer months.

In Christ,  Bob O.

Some do some don't. We're really sad that Radwan's wife and kids are leaving for good. Mohamed and his family are leaving for good. People are gone for 1-3 months. Some won't leave for another month or more. All the flights are full to Lebanon until the end of July.

Glad for the beautiful weather, but feel for you with so many close friends away . We could certainly use some of the rain. In NC we are far below our normal rainfall for the 3rd or 4th summer. Many areas are experiencing extreme draught. We had a lovely small garden a few weeks ago but now it is suffering from the extreme heat (90+ for many days in succession) and almost no rain fall for several weeks. You are often in our prayers. Africa obviously has its "snow birds" even if there's no snow.

Why do the people leave  in the most beautiful time in the summer? Maybe some day Tim & I can come and see Abidjan and help with ministry there.
All for our great Lord and Savior.
God Bless you both and Josh too.

People leave Abidjan in the summer to spend time with their families in Europe, Lebanon and the USA. It is a vacation time form school, so the whole family can get away together. Since they are gone for so long, the father frequently leaves later. That way he won't be gone form work so long. It is also a time when business slows down, so they can get away with the least loss of income.
