Grateful for simple pleasures

Downtown Abidjan across the lagoon
Abidjan

Mike FarhoWe're grateful for so many little things in our lives here in Africa. It's true, we miss much about our lives in the USA, but God meets us here in simple and pleasant ways. As I was making my visits today on my motorcycle under a clear blue sky, cool breezes were blowing off the Atlantic Ocean. August is simply the best month to be alive in Abidjan. Before putting Joshua to bed tonight, we enjoyed another simple yet precious pleasure. We watched a one hour resume of today's Olympic events on French TV5.org.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beauty and cool weather in Abidjan. Give Mike, Sue and Joshua much joy as they serve You in this city of about 6 million needy souls. Open doors each day to share the love of Jesus. Protect John as he serves at the Nebraska Army National Guard Camp this week.

Dear Mike and Sue,
I too am grateful for several days of pleasant weather, such a relief after a couple of months of high temps and high humidity. Thanks for your continued updates.
Praying for you,
Anita

I am grateful for so very many things!  I have been delivering school busses all over the U.S. for a part-time job income.  I see every trip the beauty of God's creation whether in the mountains of Vermont, the shores of Maine, the mountains of Colorado, the plains of Kansas and Nebraska, the mountains of W. Virginia and Tennessee, or the ocean at Fernandina Beach, Florida.

There is great joy in the simple things.  These things do not cost money--just the time to observe them.

I'm glad you both are appreciating the same things in Africa!

Blessings!
Larry

Hi Mike,
I could actually feel those breezes, and envy your nearness to the ocean. Here in NE. we are having unbelievably cool weather for August, the entire season has been unusual. The spring brought destructive storms, and floods in IA. and NE, but all is well now.

Please send us any prayer requests that we can share with the Ambassador class. We are prayer warriors, and because we are in the "older" age group, many of our members have a deep spritual understanding of those in need of prayer.
Bless you, Audrey

God is SO good!  I enjoyed a walk in my walker to the  rest home here in White Sulphur Springs under a clear blue sky, with a nice breeze, and enjoyed the Bible Study one of our church members gave for the residents.  God does give us simple pleasures.  God bless you as you reach out to the many lost there in Abidjan!  Love and Prayers,  Dorothy

Dear Mike and Sue,

You have raised a fine son in John.  I appreciated the follow up letter with photos he sent after his mission trip to Africa.  His attitude of gratitude was especially apparant, something I noticed as well.

We are all fine here.  Making more of an effort to be cool since these 90 + temps have a way of taking their toll.  The way things are shaking out in this election yr. has many of us thinking that Israel, Russia, Obama and the Arab countries will be propelling us to our Lords soon appearing, hopefully.  Anyway, I thank GOD for your long time committment to soul winning.  May our wonderful Lord bless you all richly.  Much love, Rose

Hi Mike,
I think the same way when we see a great sunset and cool breeze at night to cool everything down after a hot day. One thing I really like is tall grass blowing in the wind and it looks like waves in the ocean. Also riding the motorcycle and the smell of fresh cut hay or the smell of clover in the field when it is freshly watered.

The Lord is so great and we just love Him so much, what a treasure our God is. God Bless you, Tim & Kim

Aloha Mike,

I always enjoy and get blessed reading your emails.  How is Joshua doing as I always pray for him?  I just like him ever since you told the story of him throwing rocks at the (loud) speakers at the Mosque.  His soul like Joshua was knit to David and his sling and rocks.  LOL!

I was so busy I did not get a chance to email about your last email.  It fit perfect into a bible study I am doing with a group of people here on Maui who really want to count for Christ.  Thank you or as we say, Mahalo.

God Bless,
Paul

Joshua is doing good. He started school again Monday. He sure didn't like those loud speakers blaring in his bedroom window night and day. He said they gave him nightmares. I'm glad we don't live there now.

We're experiencing a simply pleasure here in Lexington, NC today. After several days of high 90's just a week or so ago, with extreme draught, today we've had a slow drizzle and over a week with no 90's.

We got a letter and some pictures from John telling us about his team's mission trip. It was nice to hear from him and see the pictures. We are praying for lasting results of their trip.

In His love, Wade & Myrtie

Yes, God is so good and so gracious--and how nice that you can enjoy the wonderful balmy breeze coming off the Ocean as you are motoring down the roads.......He has put within His children the capacity to appreciate and enjoy things that others take for granted, so often. Thanks for sharing that!

I (Carole) had knee surgery last Wed and am so grateful to God that I now am pain free!!!  What a blessing. I know full well there are those who deal with pain on a constant basis...and now I can be more considerate of what they have to tolerate.
Praise God for His mercies which are new every morning!!!!

It's nice that you are able to see some of the Olympics; looks as if M Phelps is breaking all kinds of records.....an incredible sports figure!

Blessings as you do His work,

Carole (and Len)

Hello Mike!

I am grateful for so many many things. Like my wonderful family and friends, my health and strength, shelter and the Lord supplying all of my needs. But, I'd have to say, that I think the thing that I'm most grateful for is Christ loving me so much that he saved me and filled me with his Holy Spirit that is ever present in my life.

Thank you for sharing....

Mike,Sue, Joshua and John, I am grateful that Jesus let me be a part of leading two teenagers to salvation today, praise his name!  I am thankful for his mercy, grace and abounding love.
Ephesians 3:17-21 how deep and wide is the fathers love that passes all knowledge. I love him so. I met a women named Rhonda who was married to Sue's father on Saturday. Rhonda, myself and about 14 to 15 other women prayed together. I was attending the prayer meeting for the Just give me Jesus conference at the First Federate Church in Des Moines, Ia.  Ann Graham Lotz is going to possibly come back again within the next two years and preach. We prayed for the churches and pastors in Des Moines to come back to their first Love, to rightly divide the word of God, and to preach the whole gospel. The fields are white with harvest pray for the laborers. I am praying for open doors for you to share the good news with the people of Abidjan and that Christ Jesus will surround you with his love. In Christ Jesus Tammy

Dear Mike and Sue,

I hope you are fine. You bless my life with each e-mail. I admire your strength to be working in the fields. I have gone to two short terms mission trips one to Nicaragua and one to Haiti. I can have a little (too little) of understanding of how is your life in Abidjan, and thats why I pray for all of you. I understand that you miss many things of your life in US, but you have the blessings of seeing daily in a special way the hand of God working in you, around you and for you. This is a blessing that we have and many time don't see when we live a "normal life" in our countries. So you are very blessed because your live depending of God and not as we do that we think we can do everything by ourselves. Keep on with your excellent work and my God bless you, Sue and your sons in a special way. Take care.

God bless you,
Milly(Puerto Rico)
