Computer-Electronics-Air Conditioner Junk Yard

Visited a computer-electronics-air conditioner junk yard this afternoon. It consisted of shack after wooden shack, full of AC parts, TVs, computer parts, and much more. One fellow was taking AC compressors apart for usable pieces. Two boys were breaking up circuit boards to remove the transistors, resisters and other part that could be resold. One shack had stacks of ink jet printers that didn't work. Another had stacks of old computer monitors, many which didn't work. One man actually had some new computer accessories. He had a table full of power sources for computers and other devices. On that table, I found a power supply for a 1984 Commodore computer!

I was there with George, one of our Lebanese believers.

Gospel wasn't Good News for Fahed and Sami

"The Gospel is only Good News if it arrives on time." Carl F. H. Henry
Fahed and Sami are two Lebanese men who died last weekend. Fahed loved his family deeply. We had an appointment to pray with him Friday morning. I was sure in my heart he would open his arms to Jesus as Savior. His pancreatic cancer took his life just one hour before our visit. Sami was a new arrival to Abidjan. He was a computer geek/genius. But he couldn't find work. He wrote a bad check for several thousand dollars. He overdosed on pills, on his second day in prison.

Heavenly Father, use Mike and Sue to bring the Good News to many Lebanese in Abidjan. Comfort Fahed's ten children as they grieve the loss of their beloved father. Heal Hyame as she grieves the loss of her brother and recovers from the Malaria that hit her hard Saturday after Fahed's funeral.

Hyame has Malaria

It was a very difficult week for Hyame.
  • Her brother died on Friday morning.
  • She rushed down from Bouake to be at his funeral on Saturday morning. Muslims do their best to bury their dead within 24 hours.
  • Now she is sick in bed with Malaria.
Heavenly Father, heal her body and comfort her as she grieves the loss of her brother.

Claimed healing for my back

Thank you for sending us your prayer requests. We are honored to get them, and to pray for you and others.

Praise God Fauzi's back is better!

When I, Nellie, read your e-mail, I was so thankful as I read the first line of it..."Do we need to pray for your back too?" I said 'yes' outloud and claimed healing for my back that had some of the same symptoms that Fauzi had. I shared this with my Pastor at our International Conference where we were having our International Dinner with the Grace Alliance Church in Lexington, just as we did when you were here last year. This morning my neck, back, hip and leg are almost well. I am going to ask for anointing at our time at church tonight!

Thank you for taking time to pray for others back here. God says He will not forget your labor of love; I believe that means every aspect of your ministry. God bless, protect, encourage, and give you His strength as you and your family continue to work for him. Nellie and Ken

Experienced His healing touch

Thank God, I have experienced His healing touch, from an upper Resperatory infection. I also praise Him that He protected Wade from being sick. I am now feeling well and growing stronger each day. The day your e-mail came and you prayed for everyone in pain I was not able to check my e-mail, but God heard your prayer. All your family is often in our prayers. Also we pray for those you are ministering to. Love, Wade and Myrtie

Praying for Fauzi and Baptist friend

I forgot to ask folks to pray for our 22 year old son John. He's still having trouble with his shoulder.

Please keep Fauzi and our Baptist friend in your prayers. Fauzi is grateful to be able to sleep again, but still needs to get back to work. We took a meal over to Bobbi and her husband Thursday evening. She looks great, but her doctor doesn't want her to leave her house.

God is healing backs this week!

Do we need to pray for your back too? Our Baptist friend was able to come home from the hospital. She is feeling much better. Wednesday, Fauzi got such a bad stiff neck and back that he wasn't able to sleep for 5 nights. He had pain across his back and down his left arm, making his fingers numb. His doctor feared he was having a heart attack. Sunday we had church at his house, as we have since 2005, with few exceptions. We anointed him with oil and prayed for his healing. Last night was the first night he got some sleep! Today, he is getting the feeling back in his fingers.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for being our Healer. Forgive us our impatience, wanting to be healed before it is time. We pray for each of our partners who are suffering today. Heal each sick body and broken heart, in Jesus name!

Earthquakes Hit Lebanon February 12-15 2008

Beirut - An earthquake measuring an estimated at 5.1 degrees on the Richter scale struck Beirut, east and south Lebanon at 12:37 pm Friday causing minor damage and sending many panicked residents into the streets

Five people were lightly injured in south Lebanon according to police reports

The epicenter was a small sliding plateau south of Zrariyeh village in Tyre (Sour) province. It is not the major sliding plateau that caused the deadly earthquake in 1956.

Experts said Lebanon may witness aftershocks in the next 15 days, not being a bigger threat than Friday’s earthquake.

Moueen Hamze, head of Lebanon’s National Center for Scientific Research, said aftershocks were probable. “We urge citizens to take precautions,” he said.

People in Syria, Jordan, the West Bank and Israel also reported feeling the earthquake.

People in some areas of Beirut left their apartments and went into the streets after the jolt at 12:37 pm, which lasted a few seconds.

In the southern coastal city of Tyre, residents ran toward the seashore and began reciting verses of the Koran.

NBN TV reported material damage in the southern villages of Sreefa and Mais al-Jabal and cracks in some southern roads. It also said that some villages experienced power cuts.

The chimney on one building in Tyre came tumbling down, crushing several vehicles, but there were no immediate reports of victims.

An earthquake measuring an estimated at 4.2 degrees on the Richter scale was felt at Dawn on February 12. It was followed by another aftershock 10 minutes later. The earthquake epicenter was near the town of Tyre (Sour) in south Lebanon. The aftershock was felt as far as Bint Jbeil near the Israeli border

The largest earthquake of modern times struck Lebanon in 1956 and caused 136 deaths, destroyed 6000 buildings and damaged 1700 more. It destroyed a big part of the old city of Saida (Sidon).

In 1759, an earthquake completely destroyed Beirut and Damascus killing 40,000 people.

Happy Valentine's Day ! !

We're so very grateful for your love and prayers! You are really a great prayer partner! I guess if I can tell a policeman/soldier on the side of the road in Abidjan that I love him, we can admit we love you too! We truly do thank God for you daily. You are making a tremendous difference for eternity in the lives of many men, women, boys and girls here in Cote d'Ivoire. Through your prayers and gifts, we are your voice, hands and feet in West Africa.

Our Baptist friends send you a big thank you. They told me to tell you, "God answered your prayers in a big way!" She had surgery on Friday and was up and walking around on Saturday.

Pray for suffering worker

One of our dear Baptist worker friends here in Abidjan is suffering severe back pain. She hurt it somehow while in the USA. They just returned from home assignment. The plane flight aggravated her back severely. Tonight she is in the hospital, facing surgery this week. I wouldn't want to have back surgery in the USA, much less here. Pray for a miracle!

Dear Heavenly Father, You created this woman. You know every hair on her head and every cell in her body. In Your grace, please repair the damage to her back, so that she won't need surgery. In Jesus name. Amen.
