Happy 54th Birthday Mike!

The Internet and Facebook are changing our cultures and shrinking the world. Our page at has 417 followers from more than 20 countries, speaking nine different primary languages. The same is true of with 1,509 followers. What a blessing and opportunity to share the love of Christ across the globe, from our laptops!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the way the heavens are declaring Your glory. Use us and the Farhos to bless our neighbors with Your love and good news each day. Bring many to the Easter Holy Week services at the Sousse Church.

Thank you for your love and prayers in past and in the years ahead!

Boil on My Face

Mike's Ugly Painful Boil with makeup.

Last week, a spot below my right eye started hurting. I thought it might be too much chocolate, giving me a pimple. :-) It got more and more sore as the week went on. My face got so swollen, I thought I might be getting the Mumps. It started to come to the surface on Friday. So I treated it will hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointment. Today, it is much better, but Sue is putting makeup on it so it isn't too ugly. Today we talked with John on the Internet and showed him my sore. It was a boil! A boil involves an infected hair follicle.

Heavenly Father, thank You that Mike's Boil wasn't as bad as it could have been. Make it to heal well and not to come back! Help them to get their car soon.

Sousse Catacombs

Today, Joshua and I went on a field trip to the Good Shepherd Catacombs. From some time after 70 AD until 312 AD, it was the graveyard for the Christians in Sousse. It is estimated that over 15,000 Christians are buried there. We're sure grateful those days are over. We are also grateful for the beautiful sanctuary where we worship each Sunday. You can see photos at our new website and at Facebook even if you aren't a member!

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the martyrs who gave their lives for their faith in Jesus. Encourage us to love You more than our earthly lives.

Mike's Birthday

Mike's Montana Birthday Brownie
With a week like this, I'm going to have to start going to the gym again. Family and friends keep inviting us out to celebrate my 53rd birthday. We had a little excitement as the tornado sirens blasted and the hail fell yesterday. Joshua forced his mom to take him home and invited the neighbor in our hallway to seek shelter in our apartment. Great kid! This weekend we'll be speaking at two churches in the Lincoln area.

Heavenly Father, thank You for protecting the Farhos in the storm yesterday. Bless Joshua as he is a blessing to strangers.

Farho Family Update

We are grateful that the Internet allows us close contacts with our friends and family. We are able to visit with John frequently. He is doing well. His shoulder is becoming stronger and more flexible each day. Joshua is doing well at homeschool. He seems more mature each day, even adding body hair and odors! Sue is grateful that her migraines are becoming rare. The ringing in my ears continues, but the pain I had in my feet is now gone.

Your prayers are needed, as we will be on the road for the next six weeks. We hope to send you weekly updates, but don't know if it will be possible. If you don't get updates from us, you might still find news from us at our blogs:

Heavenly Father, we ask You again to heal this ringing in Mike's ears. Help him to hear clearly, to facilitate his learning of Arabic. Keep the Farhos safe and healthy during their six weeks away from home.

Pray for healing

Fauzi thanks you for your prayers about his twisted intestine. After you started praying, he got better. He's already back to work!

I, Mike, need your prayers too. When we were in Senegal last month, I injured my right foot and my ears started ringing (tinnitus). We thought my tinnitus could be related to a medication, so I quit all medications and even vitamins. That hasn't make any difference. My foot is still sore and stiff in the morning or when I get up after sitting for a while.

Heavenly Father, in Your grace, heal Mike of these two annoying ailments. Encourage the team from Omaha, serving in Abidjan May 16-30, as they raise their support.

Nishikant Mane

Nishikant Mane and Mike
Nishikant worked in Abidjan for about a year. He was a bookkeeper for a rice company. We became "Saturday friends." Every Saturday, while Sue was at tennis with Joshua, we'd get together for tea and coffee at Cap Sud. I loaned him several books to read and gave him the Bible in MP3. He really enjoyed my A. W. Tozer books. Today Nishikant flew home to India.
