Blessed Thanksgiving and Eid al-Adha

In the USA, we are celebrating God's blessings and provision over the last year(s) on Thursday 26 November 2009. On Friday or Saturday the 27 or 28 November 2009 our Muslim friends around the world will be celebrating their Big Feast, aka Festival of Sacrifice, Sacrifice Feast, Eid Kebir, Eid al-Adha, Tabaski, etc. It reminds them that God provided a lamb so Abraham didn't sacrifice his son. The Koran doesn't say which son was involved, but by tradition Muslims believe it was Ishmael. The Bible says God provided the lamb, in the place of Isaac, for the burned offering, Genesis 22.

Heavenly Father, cause us as Christians to be grateful for your provision of Jesus to be the holy, eternal and sufficient offering for our sins. Cause many Muslims to have dreams or visions about Jesus during their festival of sacrifice and as they do their Hajj, pilgrimages to Mecca.

May God bless you richly in 2009

It is only Saturday night, but we will be tied up until Wednesday night, so we want to send you our Tuesday update early! Our prayer is that God would bless you in new and wonderful ways during this new year before us. We will see many changes in the days ahead, as God is blessing us beyond our imaginations. You will hear more about our new adventure in the weeks to come!

Heavenly Father, we open our hands up to receive from You. Forgive us for rejecting your blessings in the past. Allow us to receive your manifold blessings in 2009.

Secret of God's blessing

Charles Spurgeon, whose ministry in 19th-century London led thousands into the Kingdom of God, is considered by many to be the greatest preacher in modern history.
A group of American pastors once approached him at his church.

"What is the key to your ministry?" they asked.

"Come with me and I will show you," he responded...

As he led them through a large building, some of the pastors may have expected him to show them the church's beautiful sanctuary, but he walked right past it. Would he show them the treasurer's books or his extensive library? No... he ignored all these.

With the curious pastors in tow, Spurgeon arrived at a room in the lower level of his meeting house.

Throwing open the door, he revealed over 400 believers gathered on "THEIR" knees in prayer for the evening service.

"There," he said humbly, "is the secret of God's blessing His work here."
