Ramadan 22 Aug- 20 Sept

Muslims fast from food and water for 30 days, from sunrise until sunset. They fast as an act of faith and worship towards Allah, to suppress sinful desires and increase religious piety. Ramadan in 2009 (or the Islamic year of 1430) is August 22 - September 20. Learn more at http://islam.farho.net

My life is full of joy

Mike FarhoToday, Radwan and I went to his travel agent to purchase airline tickets for my family to an MK education conference in Niamey, Niger in January. One of the armed guards there ran up to us and greeted me very warmly. He thanked me profusely for giving him a Scripture booklet last month. He told us that his life is totally changed. His life is now full of joy, with Jesus in his heart. What a joy it was for us to hear his testimony!

Heavenly Father, continue to give Mike and Sue many opportunities to share the Word of God and love of Jesus with people in Abidjan. Guide this young man as he grows in his relationship with Jesus Christ.

Where have you been, I missed you!

On my way home from visiting Lebanese today, several police pulled me over. When one came to my window I said, "Where have you been? I missed you! We're afraid to go out when you aren't here on the side of our roads."

He responded, "We're back now!" There were four of them, so I gave him four Scripture Gospel booklets titled How to Know God by WMPress with Scriptures about salvation in Jesus Christ.

Why so many exciting stories?

Why do we always have exciting stories to share?

Because you pray, God prepares divine opportunities for us. Yesterday, Sue was stopped twice on a short trip to visit a Lebanese woman. When Sue offered the policeman a Gospel tract, he said,"I already have that one!" When she offered him a second title, he said, "I already have that one too! " Then he unzipped his shirt pocket, showing her that he carries the two booklets she previously gave him everywhere he goes.

Heavenly Father, give Mike and Sue patience as they seem to spend too much time at police stops. Help them to see these interruptions as divine opportunities from You to share Your Son Jesus.

I told the policeman, "I love you."

Today, I rode my motorcycle for my visits. Under a huge shade tree there was a group of 10 or more police or soldiers. It's hard to tell the difference, they were wearing camouflage clothes and were carrying machine guns. This fellow that stopped me was insisting that I had to give him a "gift." I replied that I don't give money, but Scripture booklets to police or soldiers on the side of the road. He asked me why I was giving him the Scripture. I replied, "Because I love you. I gave up my comfortable life in the United States of America to come here and share the Word of God, which is more valuable than money."

Before I left the soldier/policeman, we talked about where he went to church. He's a Catholic. I told him I wanted to see him in church on Sunday. He said OK. Then he walked over to the group of men to tell them about his experience with the pastor and to pass the tracts around. I know because it took me a minute to put my helmet back on and leave. They all waved goodbye.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for giving Mike this divine opportunity to share Your love with these soldiers or police. Give these men a burning passion to read Your Word. Holy Spirit, lead them to the cross of Christ for salvation.
