Car, Sound and Healing

Much patience is bearing much fruit. We should have our car in the next ten days. The acoustics in our church are much improved. We spent a Friday morning trying various modifications to the sound system settings. We are no longer using it. We found the ideal location for the leader to stand. A small amplifier, with speaker, is adding volume on the floor. The echo is almost gone.

Heavenly Father, we pray that You would heal our brother Dave of his violent stomach virus and his wife of her respiratory virus. May You be glorified and others be amazed by Your power to heal.

Charlie says Thank You

Saw Charlie yesterday. He hopes to return to his home in UK this week. He still needs more strength, but wants to get home ASAP. Your prayers are helping! Josh and I got hit with an upper respiratory cold since last Tuesday. I even lost my voice for a few days. I'm feeling a little better.

Heavenly Father, we trust You for healing, because you created our bodies for Your glory. Be glorified by healing Charlie, Joshua and Mike. Help us to trust You more for our health each day.

Pray for Charlie

Charlie is 77 years old. He was in a coma from Jan. 14-24. On Sunday evening, Sue and I went to the hospital to pray for him. He told me today that the only memory he has since Jan. 14 is our visit on the 24th. He remembers that we prayed for his healing and read the Bible to him. He praises God for answering our prayers and ending his coma that night. He has a way to go still!

Heavenly Father, heal your dear child in Sousse. Give him strength to return home to the UK, where he is the pastor of an evangelical church.

Finding friends in Sousse

We prayed that Sue would find a gym, where she could exercise with other women. During our evening walk Sunday night, we happened upon a small gym three blocks from our house. Sue joined there today. It would be very encouraging for Sue to become friends with the neighborhood women at the gym. Joshua also played soccer this week with some new friends on our street.

Heavenly Father, thank You for providing a gym near the Farho's house. Help Sue to find a good friend there. Continue to heal Mike's sprained ankle. Give wisdom as he purchases a moped or scooter soon.

Ready for warmer weather

This week, as we shiver into April, we're already thinking about packing our suitcases for Tunisia. We still have much to do, including doctor and dentist visits that all three of us do every two years in the USA. We also need to focus our energy on raising our financial support for our next two years of ministry. You can learn more about donating toward our ministry at http://give.farho.net

Heavenly Father, make all these medical appointments to go smoothly with no negative results. Raise up faithful and generous partners to invest in the Farho's pastoral ministry in Tunisia.

Freezing in Africa

With our weather always hot in Abidjan, we've not thought freezing here was possible. This morning we woke up in our unheated apartment to 62F and shivering.

On the other hand, we're really grateful for this Arabic course. It is very encouraging for us. It makes what seemed impossible seem easy.

Heavenly Father, keep the Farhos warm and healthy!

Farho Family Update

We are grateful that the Internet allows us close contacts with our friends and family. We are able to visit with John frequently. He is doing well. His shoulder is becoming stronger and more flexible each day. Joshua is doing well at homeschool. He seems more mature each day, even adding body hair and odors! Sue is grateful that her migraines are becoming rare. The ringing in my ears continues, but the pain I had in my feet is now gone.

Heavenly Father, we ask You again to heal this ringing in Mike's ears. Help him to hear clearly, to facilitate his learning of Arabic. Keep the Farhos safe and healthy during their six weeks away from home.

Gospel wasn't Good News for Fahed and Sami

Fahed and Sami are two Lebanese men who died last weekend. Fahed loved his family deeply. We had an appointment to pray with him Friday morning. I was sure in my heart he would open his arms to Jesus as Savior. His pancreatic cancer took his life just one hour before our visit. Sami was a new arrival to Abidjan. He was a computer geek/genius. But he couldn't find work. He wrote a bad check for several thousand dollars. He overdosed on pills, on his second day in prison.

Heavenly Father, use Mike and Sue to bring the Good News to many Lebanese in Abidjan. Comfort Fahed's ten children as they grieve the loss of their beloved father. Heal Hyame as she grieves the loss of her brother and recovers from the Malaria that hit her hard Saturday after Fahed's funeral.

Pray for suffering worker

One of our dear Baptist worker friends here in Abidjan is suffering severe back pain. She hurt it somehow while in the USA. They just returned from home assignment. The plane flight aggravated her back severely. Tonight she is in the hospital, facing surgery this week. I wouldn't want to have back surgery in the USA, much less here. Pray for a miracle!

Dear Heavenly Father, You created this woman. You know every hair on her head and every cell in her body. In Your grace, please repair the damage to her back, so that she won't need surgery. In Jesus name. Amen.
